Bitter End Compare and Contrast

Bitter End by Jennifer Brown has many similarities and differences from a previous book I read called Remember Me by Romily Bernard. One similarity that these two books have is that both main characters in the book don't have a mother. Wick's mom died as well as Alex's mom. Both of these characters wanted to know what happened to their own mom. In the book Bitter End by Jennifer Brown it stated, "Pressing my fingers lightly against the necklace under my shirt, I scurried back behind the counter and resumed wiping trays, daydreaming a little about Colorado. Bethany and Zazk and I had been planning this trip since we were eight years old, back when Zack's mom still called us the Terrible Three. It started out as my idea—go to the place my mom was headed when she died and see if I could figure out what was there that was so important to her that she would leave her family the way she did." This explains how Alex's mom died. She wants to know why her mom would could off to Colorado to see if she could figure out why her mom left her this way. According to the book Remember Me by Romily Bernard it states, "He scared her enough to commit suicide?' Same shakes her head hard. 'Not suicide.' 'She jumped off a building, Sam. That's called suicide.' 'You seen the tape?' Her eyes fix on the bottle and I draw it away, watching how she watches it. 'What tape?' 'The security tape. I haven't seen it either, but I was told all about it. Those policemen never figured out who else was up there, but she wasn't alone.' Same runs her tongue over her cracked lips. 'Sia didn't jump. She was pushed." This explains how Wick also lost her mom just like Alex did. Wick's mom died and she also wanted to know what happened to her mom.
Other than similarities these two characters had differences as well from each other. They both wanted to find out what happened to their mothers but in different ways. Wick found out what happened to her mother by hacking and investigating. She watched interviews of her mom and found out truths about her mom she never knew. Alex however found out what hapoened to her mom by actually going to Colorado where her mom was heading. She wanted closure and to let go of the past. So those were some similarities and differences between these two books.

Bitter End Prediction

After reading part of this book I can make a prediction that Cold might not be the right person for Alex. Everyone tells Alex that Cole is no good and she should probably keep a distance from him. In the book Bitter End by Jennifer Brown it states, "It's not funny, Cole,' I snapped. He laughed harder. 'God, Alex. Don't be whiny," he said, jostling me with his knee. Then he clucked his tongue disgustedly. 'Would it have been funny if it was Zack pushing you?' I pulled up onto my elbows and wiped my eyes. 'No,' I fumed, looking up at him angrily. 'I was yelling at you. Why didn't you stop?' I held myself from asking the next question: Were you trying to get me hurt?" This explains how Coles jealously against Zack makes his so dumb things and make Alex mad. While at the park Cole almost got Alex hurt and she wasn't sure if it was on purpose or not. This is one sign for Alex that Cole is bad news and she should listen to her friends who she ditches every time for Cole.
Cole has a side of him Alex doesn't really see and she doesn't know it. Alex thinks of Cole as the sweetest and most gently guy ever. Her friends however have seen the true side of him and are worried about Alex. In the book it states, "I held them up and shook them a little. 'Your Colorado stuff,' I said in a singsongy voice. 'Yeah, great,' Cole said, his voice so chilly it was like nothing I'd ever heard come out of him before. 'Look at that. The stuff I asked for weeks ago. Real nice of you to get right on it, Bethany." He rolled down his window, grabbed the papers out of my hand, and flung them out onto the road.' I gasped. I turned and looked out the back window. The papers had scattered and we're drifting into the weeds on the side of the road." This explains how's Alex's best friend Bethany took the time to get Colorado papers for Cole to go to Colorado with them. Cole however responded in a very negative way and threw out all the hard work Bethany did. Alex was shocked to see Cole act in such a cruel way. So this piece of evidence shows that maybe Cole might not be who Alex thought he was.

Bitter End Type of Conflict

The type of conflict I think I have for my book Bitter End is man vs. man. I think this because in the book the main character Alex meets a new guy she really likes named Cole. Alex's best friend Zack however gets really jealous. So in the story Zack and Cole have their own conflict. In the book Bitter End by Jennifer Brown it states, "I clenched my jaw and glared at Zack. He was acting like a jerk. But he didn't see me. His eyes were locked with Cole's, and the air in the room suddenly turned very uncomfortable. It was weird, really. Zack definitely had his opinions about people, but he was the kind of guy who almost always liked everyone. I could tell he definitely didn't like Cole, and I wondered what had gone on between them in gym class." This explains how Zack and Cole already don't like each other as soon as they met. This is already a conflict starter in the book. Alex has to deal with picking to hang out with Cole the guy she likes or her best friend Zack. Zack and Cole already show how they don't like each other and Alex wonders why. This is why I think that this book might he man vs. man.

Response

I can make a difference in the world by making our world a better place to live in. People can try helping the planet by not throwing so much trash. That way we could make the world better and healthier. Some strengths to use for this would be setting up petitions to help out and think of other resources to use as well.

About Oprah Winfrey

There are many things about Oprah Winfrey. For one thing Oprah Winfrey is a very honest person. In fact she has even won many beauty pageants because of her honesty. According to my book called Oprah Winfrey Entertainer, Producer, and Businesswoman it states, "During the pageant, each contestant was asked what she wanted to do with her life. Many said they wanted to raise families or become teachers. Oprah had often considered becoming a fourth-grade teacher because she so admired her own fourth-grade teacher, Mrs. Duncan. When she was asked the question, she suddenly remembered watching journalist Barbara Walters on the Today show. Oprah answered 'I believe in truth. And I want to perpetuate the truth. So I want to be a journalist.' Oprah impressed the judges, and she became one of the free finalists." This explains how Oprah has won many beauty pageants. This was one pageant she won and she continued to win more because of her honesty. Oprah only told the truth even in her talk shows.
Another thing about Oprah Winfrey is that she is very rich. She has always set goals for herself and tried to achieve them. She wanted to be a millionaire in her 30's which she did in fact achieve. According to my book it states, "They loved listening to her interviews with her interesting guests. They appreciated her honesty and sense of humor. The television stations made millions of dollars by selling advertising that would air during the show. By the end of 1986, Oprah made an estimated annual income of $30 million. She had met her goal of becoming a thirty-two-year-old millionaire—and then some." This explains how Oprah has her own show which many people actually know her for. People might know Oprah from her show called The Oprah Winfrey Show. This show was very popular and she made a lot of money. As this says, people loved Oprah's honesty which was one thing about her. This also says how she achieved her goal of becoming a millionaire. So that was another thing about Oprah Winfrey.

Oprah Winfrey Conflicts

Ever think you have the worst conflicts in life? Well, you should hear about Oprah Winfrey's conflicts. She's had a lot of difficulties in life. One conflict she has faced in life is that she was abused and even raped by people in her own family. According to my book called Oprah Winfrey Entertainer, Producer, and Businesswoman it states, "Oprah's imperfect family was not the only problem she faced as a child. When she was nine years old, she had a terrifying and sad experience. While Vernita worked, Oprah was often left with an older male cousin. Although Oprah never felt comfortable around him, she had to stay with him. She had no choice. One night, the cousin raped her." This explains how abused Oprah was from her own family. This explains how her cousin raped her. This was a major conflict in her life that she had to live with.
Another conflict Oprah has faced in her life is her eating disorder. Oprah has struggled with this disorder for a very long time. She always eats when she stressed or anytime at all. According to my book it states, "I didn't realize at the time that by overreacting I was trying to fill something deeper. The fact that I was lonely, somewhat depressed, and having a hard time adjusting to the new job never entered my mind.' By the time she moved to Chicago, Oprah weighed 172 pounds (78 kg). The stress of her new television show caused her to gain even more weight. She was soon up to 180 pounds (81.7)." This explains the eating disorder Oprah had. She had a lot of stress on her and she felt lonely. She felt food was the only thing that could comfort her. She felt even more depressed afterwards when she gained more weight and knew she had to do something about this. So this was another conflict Oprah faced in her life.

Remember Me Plot

The plot of my book is that Wick is trying to find out who is the killer of all the dead suspects. Wick has an enough cases as it is and this one is really getting to her head. With this going on she also uncovered secrets from her past she couldn't believe about her mother. According to the book Remember Me by Romily Bernard it states, " I hated how she looked sometimes.' I sounded defensive. I am defensive. Gritting my teeth, I put myself between Sam and Milo and tell myself it's so he can't see her nasty smile. I know it's because there are tears in my eyes. 'She loved you.' Sam's attention drifts up and away, following something no one else can see. 'She didn't understand you, but she loved you. She was in awe.' I don't want to hear it. It doesn't matter." This explains how Wick found out her mom actually really did love her. After all those years she thought her mom didn't love her which is why she jumped but that wasn't the reason. Wick uncovered many secrets which led to uncovering a lot more about her mothers past. Things may get really serious got her now.
Wick found out her mother did not commit suicide but that she was pushed. This leads to more questions and new suspects for her cases. According to the book it states, "He scared her enough to commit suicide?' Same shakes her head hard. She was pushed." This explains how Wick found out her mom was pushed by someone and that she didn't jump on purpose. Wick has been receiving video tapes of her mother and this may add up with what actually happened. Maybe with all the videos Wick might uncover more truths and suspects.

Remember Me Compare and Contrast

The book Remember Me has a lot of similarities and differences too with the book Flashes. One similarity that these two books have is that they both include a crime scene that has happened. According to Remeber Me by Romily Bernard it states, "I can't believe what I'm seeing. It's a dead woman. She's dressed like an angel and propped into a sitting position underneath Bay's enormous grinning photograph. Most people plow into us, running for the door, and Bren tugs me close, using one palm to shield my face from the sight." This explains the crime scene that was going on in Remember Me. The book Flashes had a similar crime scene as well. According to the book Flashes by Tim O ' Rourke it states, "I turned my back on my best friend's grave as her black-suited family gathered about it. A cold wind whipped around the eaves of the nearby church." This explains how a girl, whose name is Charley, just lost her best friend. This is now a new crime scene for the book Flashes. These two books share the same type of crime scene which is a similarity they share.
Even thought these two books have a similar crime scene they share differences about this crime scene. In Flashes Charley lost her best friend and she was torn by this news. In Remember Me Wick discovered a dead person she didn't even know. Thought both characters reacted the same, once character knew who the person was who died while the other character didn't. Also in Flashes the character died in an accident while in Remember Me it was a murder that occurred. Similar crimes but not exactly the same thought. One crime was an accident while the other wasn't.

Remember Me Conflicts

There are many conflicts in the book called "Remember Me" by Romily Bernard. Wick thought all of her troubles were over but more and more just keep coming along. Wick is forced to be on a new case to investigate a dead body. While on this dangerous investigation she discovers something else she has to worry about.... Another dead body. In the book it says "I hit something hard. Tree root? It curls around my fingers and I jerk back, exposing the long, delicate bone of a hand. Vomit surges into my mouth. That's what he was covering up? A body? I kick harder, powering onto the forest floor in jerks; then, crouching I press both hands onto my knees and try to catch my breath. In. Out. In. Out." This explains how while on an investigation Wick now has another problem to deal with. With a killer on the loose Wick now not only needs to protect herself but her foster mom and her sister. She now put her herself in a lot more danger than she expected. She discovered something that was not supposed to be discovered especially not by her.
This is not the only evidence that supports my conflict though. Another piece of evidence from the book stated by Romily Bernard is, "Aside from Ian, you're the only other person who's seen Kyle alive. He'll track you down. He'll have to. So we make that work for us. I'm going to use you. As bait.' Griff puts his hand on top of mine. 'You can't do that.' Carson laughs. 'You sure? Because I don't think she has a choice. She blew it. He saw her—has probably traced her car by now. She's a loose end.' He's right." This explains how Wick failed during her investigation and someone saw her. She now put her life in danger. Not only is she supposed to help track down the killer but now she is supposed to be used as bait as well. She now has to worry about keeping her foster mom and sister safe too. She's just safe and she's not making her family any safer either. Wick has a lot on her hands now to worry about.n

Spring Break

There are many things I am planning on doing during spring break. First of all I just can't wait for spring to come already. I have been so tired of the cold weather and now it's finally warming up. During spring break I'll be going outside more. I want to hang out with some friends and go outside more. If it's just for a walk I just want to get out more. During spring break I'm also not going to have to worry about homework much.... Hopefully. I'm really looking forward to spring break.

Leap of Faith Memory Moments

The book Leap of Faith by Jamie Blair had a lot of memory moments in it. Faith remembered many things when she ran away to Florida to start a new life. According to Leap of Faith by Jamie Blair it says, "On the way home, I mentally catalog everything I've lost: My dad. I have a vague memory of him from when I was really little, like maybe three. We're sitting on a coach somewhere. A TV's on, NASCAR, I think. The memory carries the distant sour smell of beer and B.O. I want to say that he read me a book at bedtime, but I might be making that part up." This explains how Faith was remembering her childhood with her dad. She remembers what she used to do with her dad and what her house smelled like. She was having a memory moment from years ago when she was three years old. This was one memory moment Faith had in the book
There were many memory moments but another memory moment was when the book stated, "I think about home, the feel of the dirty, gummy carpet under my feet, the water that smells like rotten eggs and turns the toilet bowl orange, the smell of smoke that clings to my clothes and hair." This explains how Faith was thinking about her home and what it was like. She was having a memory moment she hated. She was thinking about that one place she did not like which was home. She did not miss the feeling of her home or the smell of her home. She was remembering her mother and what it was like living with her. So that was another memory moment Faith had in the book.

Anne Frank Blog

Everyone faces some type of difficulties. Some difficulties I had was trying to do really well in school. Anne Frank however wasn't able to go to school so that was a difficulty for her especially since she didn't get the type of education she would get in school. She never cared what other thought of her. She would always do what she wanted and speak her mind even though everyone always told her to be like Margot. I can imagine how she must have felt because to hear someone say that would be very difficult to deal with knowing people feel that way. Anne faced many difficulties that I might not have faced like having to stay in a room and not go outside. I would never be able to stay in a room without going outside. Anne faced many hardships I wouldn't want to face.

Holocaust

I believe many people just stood and watched because they thought it was better just to stay silent and that the Nazi wouldn't come for them. I think they thought they don't have any business in this so they just kept silent. What made other people stand up was that they saw how badly people were treated and how many people were being taken away and killed so they thought it was time to stand up. I think I would have stood up because I would have know it was wrong for everyone to get taken away and killed. It would be difficult to stand up not knowing what might happen but it would mean a lot to people whose lives are at risk.

Leap of Faith Conflict

One of the conflicts from Leap of Faith was that Faith wanted to escape her horrible life and wanted to start a new and better life. Faith wanted to escape her mother who always did drugs and she couldn't stand to live with her any longer, Her mom was about to have a baby but to sell it to get more drugs so Faith did what she could and stole the baby. She wanted to give the baby a better life and she wanted to start a new life for herself as well. She did want the baby, who she named Addy, to live a horrible life with horrible people. In the book it says, "I think about home, the feel of the dirty, gummy carpet under my feet, the water that smells like rotten eggs and turns the toilet bowl orange, the smell of smoke that clings to my clothes and hair. Mom high. Mom drunk. I shake my head. I'm not going back there. I'm not taking Addy back there. This is my way out, and it has to work. It's my only chance." This explains how Faith took the baby from her mom and ran off. She started thinking about home and then remembered every single bad thing about her home. She thought about Addy and how she didn't want her to suffer through all that trouble everyday like she did. Addy gave Faith a reason to leave home and start out fresh with a brand new life. But how will she be able to provide for Addy with no job and no home? Faith has a lot of problems she needs to solve in order to keep Addy.
Another conflict from the book would be when Faith was lying to the a boy she fell in love with named Chris. She keeps lying to him about who she is and she is afraid that if she continues with the lies she will break his heart which she doesn't want to do. In the book Leap of Faith it says, "I sprint out to the parking lot and look around for the cop. He's parked out front by the road. I quickly open the car door and unhook Addy's seat. I know it's snowballing to an end. I can't allow Chris to keep getting deeper and deeper into my lies. He's harboring a fugitive. If I stay any longer, I won't just break his heart, I'll ruin his entire life." This explains how Faith has been lying to Chris a lot about who she is and how she is a fugitive. She cares too much about him to hurt him in this way. She wants to tell him the truth but she's been lying so much she's afraid he will hate her forever. What will Faith do? She hates seeing Chris believe every single lie she's been telling him.

Place I Would Want to Visit

I would want to travel to London for the following reasons. London has always been an interesting place for me to want to travel to especially since my uncle and aunt live there. I would love to visit my aunt and uncle in London since they would know all the great places to go to while being there. They have told me about the London Eye which I would love to go on. I would really love to see all of London especially on the London Eye. I think that would be really fun. I would want to see all of London and the greatest places to visit or see. I think it would be really fun to see something new.

Find Me Conflict

The conflict of this book is that a girl named Tessa Waye is dead. The main character Wick has her own problems to worry about too though. She is afraid she will get caught hacking or that the police will ask her about her dad who escaped prison. Tessa and Wick used to be friends once and now Wick is stuck with a dead girls diary she got from someone. She was asked to find out what happened to Tessa. Wick not only had to worry about that but who the killer was because he was after another victim. Someone who Wick really cared about and tried to keep safe. In the book it says, "I know who owns the diary. The script is a little smoother, but I recognize the fat, curly letters even before I see the name written at the bottom. She used to write it on all my folders. It made my stuff look like it belonged to her. I never minded. I thought it made me look like hers. Like I belonged to her. But I haven't spoken to Tessa Waye since sixth grade, and I seriously doubt she's trying to reconnect now. This doesn't make any sense, and I don't know why I turn another page, but I do and there it is: a single yellow Post-it Note pasted across some random Wednesday mornings entry. It says: FIND ME." This explains how Wick just got Tessa's diary out of no where and didn't know why. She thought Tessa was just giving her the diary to reconnect which she obviously knew wasn't the case. When she saw the post it note she knew there was a problem so she used the diary as her clues to find out what happened to Tessa and who her killer war.

About the Character

In the book Find Me the main character is named Wicket but people call her Wick. She is a very smart girl with a lot of secrets. She has a really bad attitude and a lot of sarcasm so when it comes to people she doesn't talk very polite. She is very smart actually because she is an expert hacker. She does this for a living to earn money. She is a foster child along with her sister Lily so life hasn't been very easy moving from one family to another. Wick learned to do hacking from her father so she uses that to get money and save herself and her sister in case they never find a family. According to the book it says, "I run online investigations. I specialize in cheating husbands. Yes, it's hacking to crash servers or set loose viruses. And yeah, sure, I do it for a price. I charge for invading some guy's privacy, for looking through his bank records or email files. But Lily and I need the money, and these women—my customers—need answers." This explains how Wick does hacking to not only help people but for the money. She knows it's wrong but she does it to protect her sister she really cares about. She wants her sister to have a good and happy life and not have to worry about ever being let down by people. She is very smart in school but especially since she knows how to hack. She have learned a lot from her father but not good things though.

Find Me Compare and Contrast

In this book I am going to two character named Wick and Griff. These two have some things in common but not everything. One thing they have in common is that both Wick and Griff work for her father to do hacking. In the book it states, "I have to struggle not to gape. It's just not possible. Griff can't be a hacker. He's too quiet. His grades are too good. He's too.... He's too much like me. The realization stings. We're hiding behind the same habits, the same mask. I make my living by looking underneath people's surfaces, and yet I never suspected his." This explains multiply things Griff and Wick have in common. They are similar because they get good grades and are really quiet which is why no one ever suspects them to be "bad" or even hackers. Wick realized how Griff is a lot like her than she thought because they hide the same secrets she didn't even know he had.
Other than similarities, Griff and Wick have their differences too. Even though they may both be hackers they do it for different reasons. Wick is like her dad because she does hacking for the wrong reasons while Griff does it for the good reasonsl. In the book is states, "You're not the only one with secrets, Wick.' Griff meets my eyes, and whatever he sees there makes him wince. 'My cousin's a cop. I do undercover work for the police every once in a while.' 'Because they make you?' 'Because I want to.' 'Because they caught you before?' Griff smiles. 'Really blown you away, haven't I?' No. Yes. 'So you're a red hat.' It isn't really a question, but he nods anyway. 'And you know I'm not.' 'Yeah.' I thought we were alike, but we're not. Red hats are good hackers. They protect people, systems, websites. That makes Griff one of the good guys, and I'm still.... Just like my dad." This explains how even though Wick thought she and Griff had many things in common she soon found their differences. Griff helps people and does hacking for the right reasons while Wick still sees herself and the "bad guy" because of her dad. So that was a difference that Wick and Griff had.

🎉New Years Resolution🎉

One New Year's Resolution is to learn and do well for this remaining year of middle school. I will do this by learning, paying attention and doing my homework to keep my grades well. Another resolution is to make the volleyball team in school. I will do this by practicing more to warm up for try outs. I will also try to look in more positive things in 2016 and less negative things. Something I am looking forward to in 2016 is spending time with people who don't have a negative impact in my life and just to have a great year ahead of me.

Find Me

The book I got was Find Me by Romily Bernard. A girl named Wick is an expert hacker and she is given a task by someone to find their sister Tessa who is dead. Wick is trying to find out who this man is and it can be anyone. After reading half the book I can make a prediction about who I might think the killer is. I think it might be the detective Carson. I think it might be him because in the book it showed how he was always around Tessa's house being really nosy. According to the book it says "We've barley reached the steps before I see a low-slung sedan parked on the other side of the street. My chest tightens before my brain even realizes it's Carson. It's too far away to see properly, but I think he nods at me. 'Why's he here?' 'He comes by sometimes.' Tally's hands are pinned behind her back, but she looks ready to run. 'He came by a lot before Tessa... Died. But every time I told my mom, he was gone by the time she came outside." This explains how before Tessa died Carson would always be around her house. Even now after she died he is still looking around her house. He is very strange to Wick and that is why I think he might be the killer.
