World Hunger People around the world suffer from hunger everyday. There is a child out there right now seeking for food and water. They are doing everything they can to survive..... Hoping.... Searching..... Struggling..... Parents try to give their children food even if it means they won't have any. Even a little crumb can make some people happy but other people like us take it for granted. Everyday when you eat your food and throw out any leftovers, someone out there was hoping to have that food you had. We have all the food we can eat but what do we do to help others in need for food and water? Not many people are aware of world hunger. When hearing about world hunger everyone things of something. Teachers such as Ms. Belkov and Ms. Gardner have said what they think of when they hear world hunger. "When I hear world hunger, I think about how fortunate we are," says Ms. Gardner. Well said, we take so many things for granted and don't think of the little things we have that others don't such as food for example. Let's face it, everyone just loves food but what if you didn't have that no more? Many children are starving and even dying because their parents can't provide them food. Ms. Belkov mentions, "I think of world injustice, because it seems unfair not to have such a basic need met. It's very true, we can be doing many things to help out right this second but some choose not to do anything. This is a very serious struggle for many people around the world. Some school such as Heritage Middle School do special programs such as Rachel's Challenge that do many things that help out with world hunger. There are many fundraisers that earn money to help people in need. "We raise money for a number of organizations, including UNICEF. UNICEF helps children in need all over the world." Explains Ms. Belkov. Programs like this not only help people in our community but also people from other parts of the world. There are fundraisers always ,are and money is collected to help people in need. People everywhere can do something to help out with this issue in the world. We can give out food or even clothing to people who don't have what we have. That will be less people suffering through hunger then. We can even do more fundraisers and even volunteer at different places. You don't need money to help out with this issue. "Even if you don't have a lot of money to donate, you can donate your time. You can volunteer at shelters and pantries. You can collect food items for food drives. Most importantly, your can talk about the issues your community faces to make others aware. You can start a chain reaction of awareness and activism." Ms. Belkov explained. Just like she said, people can make other people aware of this issue and people suffering through hunger everyday. There are so many things people can do to help out people who don't have the things we have like food but some people just choose to do nothing. You have to think of what it's like to have their life. It's very difficult for them to live this way and just knowing that in this world over 21,000 people die each day because of hunger.

The School Lockdown

     In spring of 2015 there was a lockdown drill for the students at Heritage Middle School. Everyone thought it was just regular drill until it went on for almost an hour. No one knew what was going on. Everyone was quiet and very confused the entire time. They knew something was wrong when it's been past 3:17 PM.
     After a while, it was finally safe to leave. There were polices and helicopters everywhere. Parents were waiting outside for their children and many people rushed home. Still not many people knew what happened that made the police come and have a real lockdown.
     Few hours later, this situation appeared on the news. Many people saw the news mad found out that someone reported seeing another person with a gun in school. Parents and children were shocked when they realized this. Apparently the gun was not found in the school as the news said.
     Next day in school everyone talked about the lockdown and what they think happened. Many people said that the person with the gun hid it outside in the bushes which is why it was not found anywhere in the school. Other students say they knew who had the gun and that the student was expelled. Many rumors went around the school that may or may not be true such as what happened to the student who had the gun or where it was found.
