Leap of Faith Conflict

One of the conflicts from Leap of Faith was that Faith wanted to escape her horrible life and wanted to start a new and better life. Faith wanted to escape her mother who always did drugs and she couldn't stand to live with her any longer, Her mom was about to have a baby but to sell it to get more drugs so Faith did what she could and stole the baby. She wanted to give the baby a better life and she wanted to start a new life for herself as well. She did want the baby, who she named Addy, to live a horrible life with horrible people. In the book it says, "I think about home, the feel of the dirty, gummy carpet under my feet, the water that smells like rotten eggs and turns the toilet bowl orange, the smell of smoke that clings to my clothes and hair. Mom high. Mom drunk. I shake my head. I'm not going back there. I'm not taking Addy back there. This is my way out, and it has to work. It's my only chance." This explains how Faith took the baby from her mom and ran off. She started thinking about home and then remembered every single bad thing about her home. She thought about Addy and how she didn't want her to suffer through all that trouble everyday like she did. Addy gave Faith a reason to leave home and start out fresh with a brand new life. But how will she be able to provide for Addy with no job and no home? Faith has a lot of problems she needs to solve in order to keep Addy.
Another conflict from the book would be when Faith was lying to the a boy she fell in love with named Chris. She keeps lying to him about who she is and she is afraid that if she continues with the lies she will break his heart which she doesn't want to do. In the book Leap of Faith it says, "I sprint out to the parking lot and look around for the cop. He's parked out front by the road. I quickly open the car door and unhook Addy's seat. I know it's snowballing to an end. I can't allow Chris to keep getting deeper and deeper into my lies. He's harboring a fugitive. If I stay any longer, I won't just break his heart, I'll ruin his entire life." This explains how Faith has been lying to Chris a lot about who she is and how she is a fugitive. She cares too much about him to hurt him in this way. She wants to tell him the truth but she's been lying so much she's afraid he will hate her forever. What will Faith do? She hates seeing Chris believe every single lie she's been telling him.
